Tenant Based Rental Assistance

  • Goal is to help individuals and families transition out of homelessness
  • Provides one-time cash assistance to tenants to help pay security deposits or utility deposits
  • May also provide rental subsidies to help renters get permanent or temporary housing

Permanent Supportive Housing

  • Combines deeply affordable rental housing with voluntary, flexible and individualized community-based services
  • Assists people with the most severe and complex disabilities to live successfully in the community
  • Goal is to reduce chronic homelessness
 

Section 811 Program

  • Helps lowest income people with significant, long-term disabilities to live independently in the community
  • Provides affordably housing and supports and services

Emergency Solutions Grant

  • Funds emergency shelter and homelessness prevention, including providing short-term and medium-term rental assistance
  • Works to rapidly re-house individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
 

Continuum of Care Program

  • Connects homeless people and their families with housing and supportive services
  • Target populations include those with serious mental illness, those with chronic addiction problems and those living with AIDS or related diseases
